Buenos Aires is a city with its own personality, open to the World's architecture, culture and art; cosmopolitan and contradictory, dynamic and tra-
ditional, historical and avant-garde. It offers a wide variety of attractions: monuments, churches, museums, art galleries and theatres; squares, parks and gardens with ancient trees; typical neighborhoods; large commercial centers, traditional and modern hotels, typical restaurants and international cuisine.

The size of Buenos Aires forces travelers to choose their visits very well. Without a good guide, the city may seem scattered. Therefore, it is advisable to choose different itineraries depending on the travelers' free time.

The city of Buenos Aires, one of the most important Latin American cities, is a great cosmopolitan and many-sided metropolis. This city astonishes the tourist with its evident universal influence. It is the capital of the Argentine Republic and the vital bond of the nation. As long as European architecture is concerned, many streets recall those of Paris.

AAENDE is the acronym for the Spanish name of the Society, that is a non-profit organization which nucleates all the different parties involved in Non- Destructive & Structural Testing (ND&ST). ND&ST actually started in Argentina many years ago, hand-in-hand with the construction of the nuclear power plants and partially sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and gradually extended to non-nuclear activities. In the course of years a national certification scheme has been developed within the framework of ISO 9712, and people are active in keeping it up-to-date, extending the scheme to include new methods and techniques. At present, many companies, non-profit organisations, government agencies and universities are involved in ND&ST throughout the country. Many of them became corporate members of AAENDE. There are:

CAEFE, CENACAF (Railways training centre), CITEFA (Army forces research centre), CNEA (Atomic energy agency), CONAE (Aerospace agency), DPVM (Mendoza's road authority), FAVARETO, GE Insp. Technologies, ITBA (Technological Univ.) , METALMECÁNICA, NASA (NPP operator), PTC (Technologic pole), SI Termografía Infrarroja , TECNOEMEL, TENARIS/SIDERCA, UBA (Buenos Aires Univ.), UM (Morón Univ.), UMM (Merchant Marine Univ.), UNMP (Mar del Plata Univ.), UTN (National Technological Univ.) Campana & Mendoza-ITREN.
